I'm Bringing Home A Baby Bumblebee... (Well, not really, but I did take his picture.)

Bumblebees are such crazy-cool little creatures. I told the kids to let me know if they ever see one, because I’d like to get some photos. So, today, I’m inside loading the dishwasher, when I hear screaming. “MOM! Quick! A Bumbleebee!”

We all gathered around and watched the big, hairy bumblebee happily go from flower to flower, oblivious to us watching him. In a matter of minutes, the bee buzzed away, and the kids went back to their swings and I went back to my dishes.

I started thinking about how fascinated my kids were with the bee, and really, with all creepy, crawly, slimy, buzzy bugs and animals. Seeing the wonder in their little faces as they observe and explore things that are mysterious to them, is one of my favorite things. They are such fearless little people, and I LOVE this. I mean, they know bees sting. In fact, most of my kids have even been stung before. Yet, in their minds, this sweet moment was too good to be allowed to pass by, despite the fact, there was that small chance they could be stung. They just seem to get IT. They know great opportunities may pass us by if we do nothing by chillax’ in our own comfort zones. Kids can be pretty brilliant sometimes. I certainly have learned a lot from mine.
